We haven't posted for some time, but that doesn't mean that there has been a lull in activity, far from it - we are busier than ever.

Here's an update.

The formal Asset Transfer Request is almost finished and will be submitted to Borders Council by the deadline of April 30th. At this point the property can no longer be sold or otherwise disposed of while our request is considered. We have to convince the Council of the long-term viability of our plans. They have 6 months to respond.

We have a new exciting community vision for The Wells in which four spaces are tightly integrated:

* The accommodation: Restore the historic spa building and offer a Heritage Short Stay Experience.
* The hall: Create a vibrant Community Event Space.
* The exhibition space: Preserve St Ronan's Spa heritage and bring The Spa Story alive again!
* The garden: Create a positive space for Community Health, Wellbeing & Outdoor Learning.

We have to find funding for building repairs, renovation and repurposing the interior etc. It is a lot of money and involves a lot of funding agencies. Currently:

* We are submitting a Stage 1 application to the Scottish Land Fund. The SLF is the primary source of funding for asset transfers in Scotland.
* Our architects, Lyon and Turnbull, are drawing up plans.
* A condition report for the building is due soon.
* A business plan is due in May.

We'll keep you posted - it's an exciting time!
